A fantastic Paris porcelain vase in a beautiful blue colour with a hand painted panel front and back. One panel depicts a courting couple, the reverse is a glorious spray of flowers.
The vase is heavily gilded throughout and has ornate twin handles. The vase appears to be sat atop a plinth but in reality it is in three separate pieces joined by a metal strut (this needs tightening up).
The top of the vase is castellated and there are decorative shell details. This is a large and impressive item that dates to approximately 1830 and was probably made by Jacob Petit. Although the JP monogram is absent, there is an incised J on the underside (as per photographs) and I have found almost identical pieces online that DO have the monogram. There is gilt loss in places as pictured, but no chips, cracks crazing or restoration.
